About

A founder-led advisory shaped by more than fifteen years of brand, culture and business experience.

Moon Above Advisory is an independent brand strategy consultancy founded by Jean-Baptiste Quesnay.

We work with brands, hospitality groups and leadership teams at moments when the existing position is no longer sufficient: a rebrand, a major launch, a change of leadership, a loss of relevance, or a business that has grown faster than the meaning of its brand.

Our role is to help leaders make the decision that should precede identity, communication and execution.

What should the brand stand for?
Which cultural territory can it credibly occupy?
What should it protect?
What is no longer working?
What does it need to become?

We translate those decisions into clear positioning, actionable brand platforms, agency briefs, launch strategies and roadmaps that internal teams and external partners can use.

The founder

Jean-Baptiste Quesnay

Jean-Baptiste Quesnay is a French entrepreneur and strategic advisor with more than fifteen years of experience across branding, communications, luxury, the creative industries and international market development.

Before founding Moon Above Advisory, he co-founded and led TRENDS, an international communications and creative agency operating across Paris, Dubai and Tokyo.

Under his leadership, TRENDS advised more than 500 brands across consumer goods, fashion, luxury, hospitality, technology, entertainment and sport. The agency was recognised among France’s leading public relations firms for three consecutive years and was twice named among Adweek’s fastest-growing agencies.

Working across different industries, markets and stages of growth gave Jean-Baptiste a direct understanding of the decisions that shape a brand over time: how to enter a market, remain distinctive, manage growth, respond to cultural change and align multiple teams around one clear direction.

His work and perspective have been featured in publications including Forbes and WWD.

Why Moon Above

Most branding processes begin too late.

They begin with identity, campaigns, content or creative execution before the organisation has made the strategic choices those expressions are supposed to communicate.

Moon Above begins earlier.

We examine the cultural environment around the brand, identify the territory it can legitimately occupy, define the position it should choose and translate that decision into expression.

Culture → Territory → Positioning → Expression

Culture provides the context.
Territory identifies the space the brand can own.
Positioning defines the choice.
Expression turns that choice into something visible and actionable.

The objective is not to follow culture or predict every trend. It is to give the organisation a coherent position from which it can make better decisions.

Founder-led, specialist-supported

Senior judgment, supported by the right expertise.

Every Moon Above engagement is led directly by Jean-Baptiste Quesnay.

He leads the diagnosis, develops the central recommendation and maintains the senior relationship with the client throughout the mandate.

Depending on the project, Moon Above may assemble a selected team of strategists, researchers, designers, category specialists or creative partners. This allows the practice to provide the capabilities required by each mandate without transferring the central strategic work to a junior team.

Clients therefore receive direct access to senior judgment, supported by the appropriate expertise and production capacity.

An international perspective

Built in Paris, Dubai and Tokyo. Active worldwide.

Having built and led teams across Paris, Dubai and Tokyo, Jean-Baptiste has worked directly with the organisational and cultural tensions that emerge when brands operate across markets.

Moon Above works with companies across markets through international mandates. We distinguish what must remain globally coherent from what should adapt locally, giving leadership teams and their partners one clear strategic direction across markets.

Private Art Advisory

A separate, selective practice.

Alongside the brand strategy consultancy, Jean-Baptiste continues to advise selectively on private art acquisitions and transactions.

This work is conducted through Moon Above Private Art Advisory, a separate practice serving collectors, family offices and trusted counterparties.

Independent by design

A limited number of engagements.

Moon Above Advisory accepts a limited number of engagements at any one time.

This allows every mandate to receive direct senior attention, rigorous preparation and a recommendation shaped around the client’s actual situation rather than a standardised consulting process.
